The Practical Life area is essential for a strong Montessori educational foundation. In this area, children practice control of movement, concentration, self-confidence, and a love of learning.

Activities in Practical Life are made of familiar objects from everyday life. Materials are intentionally real whenever possible so children can build trust, responsibility, and practical independence.

The work in this area usually falls into four categories: care of self, control of movement, care of the environment, and grace and courtesy.
